LESSON: Transparency (Sunlight) is the only pathway for building an incredible, long-term successful business, or for us all together to re-build an incredible Country. Great leaders must fight secrecy and opaqueness for themselves, their organizations, and the country in whole. It’s the only way to ensure long-term prosperity.

As I battled the bizarre and illegal actions of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) for over a decade, I constantly told myself this could never be happening if the great citizens of the United States simply knew how things really worked, what is really going on behind the green curtains.
I, myself, was such a duty-honor-country fanatic that I never thought any of this was possible, and that was my greatest downfall – along with 100 other mistakes, literally, I made when the black swan showed up in my office reception area.
You may remember, when regulators and prosecutors placed 100 manilla folders with an email printout in front of myself and our executive team to ask, “What do you think they meant by this email?” I never once, even then, felt a pit in my stomach about anyone doing anything untoward or unethical. It all made logical, common sense to me.
But I was too naïve and misinformed to understand that wasn’t the point. The Machine was already crafting its secretive objectives and battle plans to achieve the end result, regardless.
This week you saw the incredible unmasking of USAID, along with other Non-Government Organizations (NGO’s), to be a long-term secret black box arm of the State Department, CIA, and Political Operatives. As I have attempted to take the high road telling my real-life story to hopefully educate others to not befall the same fate, I continually urge Americans to educate themselves. Otherwise, we work, watch tv, eat and drink, complain, and repeat and then never understand the world we live in, or have the power and resources to do our part making it better.
This week, I urge us leaders to continue our education. The world is nothing as it seems, and I hope you have the energy and commitment to do your part for truth.
